Next to it is Villa Badia, founded in the 11th century as part of the Abbey of Santa Giustina di Sezzadio and rebuilt in 1600. At the end of the 19th century, the Counts of Frascana made it their private residence, not before renovating it.

Château Charbonnières, the emblem of French majesty

In the Loire Valley and Normandy you will find one of the most spectacular castles in Europe, the Château Charbonnières.

This imposing French castle, built between the 15th and 16th centuries on an area of 32 hectares. With an interior area of around 10,000 square meters, distributed over its three floors, there are 20 suite-type rooms with different decorative styles, as well as a main room which bed has been made of exquisite hand-carved wood. In this dazzling French castle we can also find a music and games room, library, banquet hall, an orangery and a greenhouse.

Château Charbonnières

The imposing Château Charbonnières was owned by an important list of French nobles, such as Jean Guarín in 1472 or Jean D’Oynville in 1557. During this time it was frequently visited by King Henry IV, where he was able to enjoy the Eure river, which flows through the grounds of the estate.

At the beginning of the 17th century, in 1600, the Château Charbonnières passed into the hands of Antoine and Cesar de Baux, later belonging to the Lesseville family.

In the 19th century, it was Count Chamois who established himself as the architect of the great renovation of this French castle, a clear example of the Troubadour architecture of France, giving it that Neo-Gothic style that characterizes it today.

Inside we find numerous architectural treasures, such as marvelous wooden floors, a sumptuous spiral staircase, chandeliers or an original 18th century kitchen that remains in perfect condition even after the Château Charbonnières was occupied during the Second World War by German troops.

Château Charbonnières

Already in 2010, the owner of this historic French castle carried out a large and meticulous restoration, preserving the typical elements while equipping it with a modern cinema room, gym and a large conference room. In addition, the entire electrical system is changed and a new heating system is installed.

Counting on an excellent location, Château Charbonnières is located in the heart of the Perche National Park, an environment which makes its visitors feel like true time travelers.

In this luxurious castle you can find unique characteristics such as its majestic gardens, its own river where you can practice activities such as fishing, spectacular forests near the property, as well as the possibility of enjoying the numerous cultural offerings that its surroundings offer. In 2017, a prestigious online auction house, an expert in luxury properties and a favorite of great fortunes, put the property up for sale with no starting price, resulting in sold.

The Château Charbonnières stands out for its high level of luxury and history, as well as for being a privileged enclave for disconnecting in a majestic setting.

Hidde-James in cooperation with Concierge Auctions for luxury property auctions in Europe

Auctioning a property is one of the options that the real estate market for luxury properties is opting for. In the United States, auctioning a luxury home has been normal for years. This method is being implemented in Europe in recent years, as this is a comfortable, effective and above all private formula to buy and sell this type of property.

Mr. Hans Veenhuijsen brought the renowned luxury real estate agency Christie’s International Real Estate to the Netherlands and currently has a Christie’s International Real Estate agency in Marbella, on the most luxurious and exclusive coast of southern Europe: the Costa del Sol. Representing currently in Europe, through the company Hidde-James.com, the famous American auction house for luxury properties Concierge Auctions, considers the trust that its clients place in the company as a fundamental aspect of its success.

A luxury property auction system that Concierge Auctions conducts through its reliable international database, which has more than 650,000 millionaire clients and 275 billionaires, in addition to all holders of unlimited credit cards, such as American Express Centurion ‘Black’ cards. To be part of this company it is necessary to have a high economic capacity, since a deposit of € 100,000 is required to participate in any auction. This money will be refunded if the sale does not take place. The market value of a property that wants to be auctioned cannot be less than one million euros, establishing the sale price between 2.5 and 40 million euros.

The confidence of the clients towards the information provided by the company is such that sixty percent of the buyers would acquire one of its properties without having previously visited it.

To illustrate this trust in the company, Mr. Veenhuijsen, representative of Hidde-James.com, gives as an example a North American client who recently bought a luxury villa in Marbella for 11 million euros without prior visit to the property.

The auction becomes the most efficient and fair sale method since the real value is established by the market, although it is not always the one that the seller wants. You may want to sell a property for a high asking price, spending a lot of time for sale and causing doubts to the seller. To avoid this and make the sale within the first six weeks, a fact guaranteed by Concierge Auctions and Hidde-James, the asking price is set as the minimum for which the seller wishes to sell the property, going up from there.

Concierge Auctions for luxury property auctions in Europe

Another example that perfectly illustrates this situation takes us to Gstaad, Switzerland: The luxury villa in the photograph was found for sale at a price of 14 million euros for four years, to no avail. Concierge Auctions took control of this operation and, as the seller set a minimum sale price of 7.9 million euros, the property was sold by the company in just a few weeks for 9.5 million euros.

These auction sales have been very well received by large property owners. Millionaires, billionaires and stars like Michael Jordan or the Kardashians have found in this formula a very private, fast and secure way to sell their properties.

The most expensive property that has ever been auctioned is in Florida, specifically in Hillsboro Beach, going up for auction for an initial amount of 159 million euros. Its owner commented after the sale that he had been pleased with the result of the auction and with the working method of Concierge Auctions, since they have the best organization in the world for the sales of luxury properties.

However, not all properties can choose to be listed at an international auction. To do so, they must have a number of unique characteristics, such as an excellent location and sufficient appeal to attract the attention of international customers. Luxury properties auctioned by Concierge Auctions and Hidde-James as their European agency, are not common. Among its exclusive portfolio you can find from a villa with its own abbey, declared a national monument in Italy; an old Palazzo on the canals of Venice, an estate on a cliff in Mallorca or an exclusive villa in Marbella with the original Picasso signature on its pool.

These are some examples that can be found in the international auctions organized by the company, with areas such as London, Brussels, Saint-Moritz, Marbella, the canals of Amsterdam, Ibiza, Zurich or Monaco being the most desired.

Château Pechrigal, medieval charm

Near the city of Toulouse, in Upper Normandy, is the town of Saint-Clair. A place full of beauty that is perfect for the location of the impressive Château Pechrigal.

Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, this three-floor medieval castle is full of styles and extremely luxurious details that make it a perfect summary of the history and French finery of the time. The property appears for the first time in various historical documents from the year 1354. However, it was in 1368 that the Château de Pechrigal became the property of the nobleman Pierre Casatou, the Coseigneur of Gourdon and Lord of Saint-Clair. In 1648 it was acquired by Jaques de Séguy, whose family kept it until 1782.

Château Pechrigal

It was in 1963 when the Monegasque singer-songwriter Léo Ferré discovered this French castle. Although the condition of the property was not optimal, its medieval style and unique characteristics made it fall in love with this castle.

Thus, Léo Ferré acquired the property and for five years established it as his home, together with what was then his partner, Madaleine Rabereau, and his famous chimpanzee Péepé. In the wonderful Château Pechrigal he composed much of his work and lived until 1968, when he moved to Tuscany, Italy.

This magnificent French chateau remained without an owner until the late 1990s, when it was acquired by a new owner: French-American John Manchec.

Château Pechrigal

After an exhaustive restoration, respecting the medieval roots of the property and applying the new trends of the time, the Château Pechrigal becomes a luxury hotel, offering its guests a magnificent location on the top of a hill, as well as exceptional views. Its wonderful location, with international airports in its surroundings and daily trains to Paris, makes this medieval castle a unique place.

Within a 108-acre tract of land, we find a main building with three floors, 19 bedrooms, 17 full bathrooms, and three toilets. Inside we can find a large terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine made in the property’s private vineyard. In addition, it has its own two-floor winery, several tennis courts, a swimming pool and numerous trails where you can enjoy horseback riding, as well as a gym and spa.

All this planned to delight the visitor with an authentic luxury life without having to leave the property. A true refuge to escape from the mundane life of the city.

Villa Passalacqua, the most beautiful jewel on Lake Como

In the north of Italy, near Milan and a place of incomparable beauty such as Lake Como, Villa Passalacqua is located. It is located in a beautiful town called Moltrasio, very frequented by artists and great fortunes as a holiday destination.

Villa Passalacqua originally belonged to Pope Innocent XI, whose papacy was during 15th century, to later be rebuilt by Count Andrea Luccini-Passalacqua in the 18th century. Felice Soeve, a famous architect at the time, and the designer Giancondo Albertolli were chosen by Luccini-Passalacqua for the major renovation that took place in this luxury villa. Years later, Villa Passalacqua became a refuge for the most influential artists, musicians or writers of the time. A remarcable example was the composer Vincenzo Bellini, who made Villa Passalacqua his home from 1829 to 1833 and where he found the inspiration to create two of his most important operas: Norma and Sonnambula.

Its walls have housed such important figures as Napoleon Bonaparte or Winston Churchill. At present it is visited by important politicians, athletes, artists or actors, who choose Villa Passalacqua seeking tranquility and rest without giving up the greatest luxuries.

Villa Passalacqua, The most beautiful jewel on Lake Como

This impressive property allows you to enjoy Lake Como in all its splendor in a private and exclusive way, since tunnels leading to the lake start from the villa. These tunnels run under the garden to the shore of the lake, with beautiful corners and stone walls. In addition, on its route there are numerous underground rooms and cellars. As for the design details, in Villa Passalacqua we find great contrasts. A proportionate and simple construction on the outside collides with an opulent interior decoration, typical of Soeve’s concept. In addition, Villa Passalacqua offers its guests unparalleled views of impressive, carefully tended gardens: an idyllic place full of vegetation and fountains, where a walk becomes a magical experience.

Regarding the general characteristics, we find a complex that has a spectacular dining room dominated by 16 marble columns, decorated with frescoes painted by the neoclassical artist Andrea Appiani. Next to it, a living room with a large fireplace serves as a separation between one room and another. Inside this magnificent property there is also a music room with spectacular views of Lake Como, decorated with frescoes painted this time by Albertolli. The full kitchen is dominated by two large marble fireplaces that contain the emblem of the Passalacqua family. The property also has a cinema, billiards room, gym and a games room for the little ones.

The building is distributed over three floors, with 14 rooms, of which 9 are in suites, all of them uniquely beautiful. In terms of decoration, they all have Persian rugs and numerous works of art. Also noteworthy are its ornate 19th century bronze doors, which are spread throughout the villa, the greatest representation of which is found in the majestic main door built in 1727.

As for the exterior, in the property we can find, in addition to its spectacular gardens; great areas of olive trees and lemons, an over 200 years old and a large swimming pool. Noteworthy is the private stone-lined dock, beautifully decorated with flowers such as roses and jasmine.
